Best pasta "bowl" I've ever used
January 17, 2017
I bought 4 of these (in the gorgeous red) and after using one the day it arrived I immediately ordered 4 more. The bowls are the perfect size for most (full) meals, and the gentle sloping sides make it MORE useful than a regular dinner plate. That's because the bottom is wide and flat enough to spread out your meal plus it's easy push stuff up on the sides - thus displaying the food more aesthetically than if it was lying on a flat plate. For dieters, it is also the perfect size to "fill" up, creating the visual impression that there is a lot of food (due to optical illusion provided by sloping sides - see above) yet it really is a lot less food.
Last night we ordered Japanese food and then served our meals in these bowls: a scoop of rice on half the bottom! a scoop of spicy broccoli on other half, some nice slivers of meat running up about some of the slopping side, and a few pieces of sushi spread around the sloping sides, too. The presentation was beautiful (a must when eating Japanese), the plate seemed full even though we split the meal, and it was easier to use chopsticks than when I eat from a regular bowl or a flat plate.
It probably goes without saying, but it's the perfect size and shape for pasta, chillis and salads, too. The only thing I am curious about is how it will do with a thin soup - will the soup cool down too quickly because of the bowl shape?
