Fazer is a brand that most Finns have grown up with; it's considered part of Finnish heritage. Those who are introduced later in life to the famous Fazer chocolate may have a hard time going back to their old favorite candy bar. Fazer is loved worldwide for its delicious taste, quality ingredients, and blue wrapper which symbolizes pure Finnish nature. The classic Fazer Blue candy bar first appeared in 1922 and stays true to its original recipe today. It is made with fresh milk, sugar, cocoa mass and cocoa butter, and the difference is easy to taste. Giving Fazer chocolate is a Finnish tradition, but we recommend also stocking up for yourself before the end of the holiday season.
Other varieties of the original Fazer Blue are just as tasty and very popular, including dark, hazelnut and peppermint chocolate. Perhaps the second most famous wrapper is the red and white stripes of the Marianne candies, which look beautiful presented in a candy dish around the holidays. First produced in 1949, it was inspired by the candy canes that decorated holiday trees. The chocolate and mint combination was a new craving after World War Two and is just as popular today. Other favorites include Fazermints (mint-filled), Geisha (hazelnut-filled), and Dumles (toffee-filled), all of which make wonderful stocking stuffers.
