Arabia, part of the world-renowned iittala group, is a forerunner in Scandinavian dishware design. Designer Inkeri Leivo wanted to diverge from the grandiose tableware that marked the era with simple shapes and pure color. The collection has smooth lines and a creamy white hue that will complement, not overpower, any dish you display in it. It is an "oven to table" line that is also freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe, making this both a beautiful and a smart collection to own. My set is about 30 plus years old. Is it microwave safe?
Microwaves became popular in the late 60s/early 70s so it is possible your set was designed with this in mind - HOWEVER since this dinnerware is no longer in production, I would consider treating it more like china for serving purposes. It will ensure the longevity of your dishes. The more current releases were all oven to table and microwave safe - but I cannot be certain of your older dishes. You could contact Iittala directly if you have any concerns: www.iittala.com
