The impact of Kaj Franck on Finnish design was great and lasting. According to the introduction to this book by Stuart Wrede, curator of the Museum of Modern Art, his contributions were equal to, or greater than, those of Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva. He held positions as artistic director of Arabia and Nuutajarvi and the Institute of Industrial Arts. His designs were utilitarian in nature and made to have lasting appeal.
