Its design and manufacture draw on the traditions of Finnish applied arts, which Arabia has developed and modernized since 1873. Every year a new plate is released and manufactured for a limited time only. Arabia's 2006 Flora Plate : The Blueberry uses modern and trendy colors-- brown and light blue-- and minimalist, figurative illustrations. The sleek porcelain plate is round and bows slightly toward the center where a slightly indented square frames a beautiful blueberry illustration. Four bears surround the center of the plate. The illustrations on the plate make reference to the fable The Bear and the Mouse. The Aesop fable's moral is that Everyone can help and everyone needs help.
The art plate has a hook on the back so you can hang the plate on your wall. The Blueberry Plate measures approximately 8-1/2" in diameter. The collector's piece also has a certificate of authenticity and carries the signature of the artists, Eeva Sivula & Pekka Toivanen, on the back of the plate. |
