Aino Aalto

Aino Aalto

A practical woman who was always challenging the boundaries of traditional design, Aino Aalto had visionary ideas that graced her with several awards and design notoriety during her lifetime. In 1932, Aino entered and won a glassware competition in Finland to beat even her husband, Alvar Aalto, a talented glass designer and architect of the time. Aino Aalto™ namesake design is iittala™ oldest product and is the first glass product intentionally designed with everyday use in mind, yet adaptable for modern production methods. Developed in the true spirit of functionalism, Aino Aalto™ glassware and furniture pieces are so simple and timeless in form that it's no surprise they are still in demand 70 years later.
