I can't wait to have curtains for my sauna on the lake made out of this fabric! It is blue and white like at the lake, and flowery for beautiful summertime! Crisp, floral, and lakelike all in one! A white painted sauna with the light blue color inside the flowers for the doors!:)
Pros
Fresh and crisp and fun and floral!

The iconic Merimekko fabric; a perennial favorite. This print is being made into a 60's inspired shift dress from a vintage pattern. Can't wait to wear it!
Is this fabric appropriate for curtains? I'm wondering if it will drape or if it is stiff like canvas (using clip rings on a rod, with 2.5X to 3X fullness). Also, would you advise lining curtains to preserve the color? Thanks!
1 Answer
It is very appropriate for curtains! I would suggest adding a backing if you were going to use it in a window that gets a lot of direct sunlight, as the colors could fade over time.

Would this fabric be appropriate to use as part of a child's quilt? Or would it be too heavy for piecing? What about hand-quilting? The pattern and color are perfect but I'm concerned about the weight. Thank you!
1 Answer
The weight of this fabric is appropriate for quilting. It is not too heavy for hand stitching either.

Is this the same as the Marimekko Unikko blue fabric as seen on the duvet cover that I have? It looks as if this is smaller
1 Answer
The duvet cover was the full sized flowers (16-20"). These are Pieni (12-15" flowers)

I read something on your website that said a fabric with a repeat larger than 1 yard will be sold by the repeat, but I was confused because a repeat of this fabric is 1.14 yards, but it is still sold by the yard.
If I want 2 repeats, can I just order 2 yards of fabric?
1 Answer
Some fabrics are sold by the repeat while others are sold by the yard. This distinction depends on the design, rather than the size of the repeat.
If a fabric is sold by the yard, you can order half yards if you are looking for a more specific amount of fabric.
Please simply round up when you are adding the fabric to your cart. At checkout there is a 'comments section' in which you can specify the exact amount of fabric. When we download your order, we will pro-rate the cost of the fabric and send you a new order confirmation.
