Fittingly named Metsämarja (Wild Berry), this watercolor-esque design by Lasse Kovanen features juice lingonberries, bilberries, and blueberries in fields of flowers; just like you'll find all over Finland. The summery print is the perfect way to bring new life to your table setting this season. Printed on 100% acrylic-cotton, this Pentik placemat is easy to keep bright and beautifully. Acrylic-coated cotton makes minor messes easily wiped clean, but also allows it to be machine washable for more major spills. It feels coarser than untreated cotton, but still feels like fabric and not like vinyl of earlier placemats. Plus, the eco-friendly treatment helps to avoid wrinkling when folded!

When I ordered these placemats I was a bit concerned about the coating, not wanting that to have the feel of plastic. But the fabric still feels like fabric, looks textured, and the colors allow different colored dinner dishes to "shine". Spills are easily picked up, so the coating also works.
