Maija Isola's popular Unikko pattern was created in the 1960's during the height of modern design and has since remained one of the most iconic patterns of all time. Delving into oversized design and deconstructed shapes led Isola to create large than life patterns. Large red and fuchsia poppy flowers are printed over a white background to create a vivid and graphic print that impresses any design connoisseur. Made in Finland from 100% cotton, it's coated in acrylic to serve in spots that might get a little messy - such as a tablecloth or placemats. Acrylic-coated cotton makes minor messes easily wiped clean, but also allows it to be machine washable for more major spills. It feels coarser than untreated cotton, but still feels like fabric and not like vinyl of earlier fabric. Plus, the eco-friendly treatment helps to avoid wrinkling when folded!

The perfect table cover!
March 24, 2018
I own five(!) different Marimekko PVC tablecloths for our casual dining table. I grew up in Norway, and my mother had a similar "oilcloth" on the kitchen table constantly, making craft projects and food spills easy to clean. When I had my own family, I looked in vain in fabric stores all over the U.S. for a similar heavyweight , yet beautiful, table covering. Everything I found felt cheap, plasticky, and was so lightweight that it just slid all over the table. Then I found Finnstyle...my first purchase from them 10 years ago was Marimekko PVC fabric! It is everything I remember from my childhood. Even though it is a protective, wipe-clean fabric, the pattern is so striking and modern that I get many compliments on how lovely this tablecloth is. The red is so cheery and bright! The fabric is heavy and drape-y enough to stay in place on my table without needing to be clipped or secured. I realize this is not inexpensive, but is so, so worth it. In this case, you truly get what you pay for.
Pros
  • Not a cheap plasticky tablecloth! This fabric is heavyweight, drapes well, and feels much nicer.

This tablecloth goes in a cabin. We can't help but feel happy when we look at it . . . and we can't help but look at it. It definitely draws the eyes.

Can I get a sample of this product? Can it be used for chair upholstery?
1 Answer
Hello, unfortunately we are not able to sample PVC, Upholstery, or repeat fabrics. PVC fabric is not recommended for upholstering for furniture as it does not stretch well and may tear easily.
