Q & A
Designer Maija Isola famously created the Unikko pattern in the 1960s, a time when Marimekko's collections were mostly abstract prints. Her iconic poppy is embossed on the lid of this small spice jar. The rough brown exterior of the pot is natural and rustic, while the interior, lid, and spoon are coated with a clear glaze. The small ceramic spoon rests in a hole in the lid, embossed with the poppy. Fill it with loose tea, herbs, spices, or sugar. The set is dishwasher safe.

This is such a joy to use. I keep my salt in it by the stove. It is so easy to clean and care for, and the matte/glossy contrast and poppy-embossed top make it so much more special than an ordinary salt cellar.
The spoon is on the small side, which I prefer, since it allows for more control with smaller quantities.
