Designer Maija Isola had a dream about running with wild horses in the forest, and was inspired to create this folkloric print. Fittingly named Musta Tamma (Black Mare), it depicts beautiful dark brown horse with beige and turquoise apples on a white backdrop. Made from white stoneware, the piece is conveniently microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher safe for everyday use.

As "musta tamma" means black mare, I gave a couple of these mugs to the owner of a horse ranch where a black mare was recently born. I explained the meaning of the words so she was thrilled to get the mugs.
They look even better in person.
I wish a larger-sized mug came with this pattern!

I like this Marimekko pattern, but I find it most graphically impressive when the horse is repeated several times - for example the version that appears on fabric, or on the tray.

This mug is a nice size for a small cup of coffee or tea. It is comfortable to hold and will stack in other marimekko mugs. The pattern is as cute in person as it is in the picture.
