I wanted to new Merimekko umbrella and ordered this from Finn Style. It is perfectly transportable because it is super small! I can carry it in my not-incredibly-large handbag! And it is super cute! I will order more!

Incredibly disappointed

I was so excited for this umbrella and then equally disappointed. The fabric was beautiful, but the umbrella was extremely cheap. The shaft of the umbrella was very flimsy, felt like a little breeze would bend it over. And the canopy of it, well let's just say it's hard for me to evaluate being that the umbrella wouldn't even open up. Yep a minimum requirement for my umbrellas is that they open, this one failed. Neither my husband or I could get it to open. I just quit, put it back in the box and then had the luxury of getting to pay to mail it back. Do not buy this umbrella.

Love this iconic umbrella! Mine was stolen, but I miss it enough that I'm investing in another one!
Please illustrate the method of opening this umbrella?

It is a manual open umbrella, with no button. Hold the handle in one hand and push the base of the umbrella up with your other hand to open the canopy. If it sticks a little, gently shake the umbrella in a twisting motion with the hand holding the handle, while pushing the canopy upwards. To close, just pull the base of the canopy back down toward the handle.
