Q & A
Made especially for the Museum of Glass, the Violet Green Swallow is an evergreen addition to any Toikka collection. Only 300 of these special edition birds have been made in Finland by iittala, and each is numbered x/300 on its base. Because every bird is handmade and mouth-blown, each is a one-of-a-kind work of art. The sponge-like speckling on its belly can be white, blue, or a mixture of both, and the iridescent spots down its back can reflect violet tones along with many other hues just like the Violet Green Swallow found in nature. All will share a transparent emerald green body and beautiful iridescent beak.
