Don't just set the table; tell a tale. Klaus Haapaniemi, the artist who brought us iittala Taika (Magic), now invites us into the whimsical world of Tanssi (Dance). Inspired by the birth of opera, the intricate illustrations depict forest inhabitants dressed for a fancy affair. A flute-playing deer, pipe-smoking rooster and a dancing badger are among the colorful characters. The vitro porcelain of this mug is dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe, making it as sensible and is it stunning for special occasions and everyday dining.iittala Tanssi was inspired by the artwork Klaus Haapaniemi created for the Finnish National Opera production of The Cunning Little Vixen. Influences from Oriental and Slavic imagery, traditional storybook illustrations and even Art Deco can be found in the detailed line work. Though rich, Tanssi is surprisingly versatile and beautifully paired with other iittala dinnerware and glassware such as Teema and Kartio.

The mug is shaped like the Taika mugs, good capacity, very good handle. The creatures are very detailed. I particularly like the racoon!

I purchased the salad plate in Helsinki and didn't really get the significance of the design being based on Janacek's opera "The Cunning Vixen". I was so happy to complete a breakfast set with the bowl and mug from FinnStyle...and appreciated that they were on sale! Thankyou

I was happy with taika collection, but tanssi won my heart over. The story telling quality is just fabulous. I had to get 2 - one to store, one to use. The day 3 of using this the bottom of the mug came off while I was washing it. It was very weird since I was gently handling it and never dropped or hit this mug anywhere. My heart almost broke, but I realized I could still use it was a pot to keep my plant in (the damage became a nice drainage). The second one I bought is still in my storage because I'm too afraid for it to break even though I know it won't. It's well made, I just got the one of the unfortunate piece. Yet, I still love this mug. One day I'll buy another one of this mug and a plate from this collection to surround myself with. They make me very happy!

I am very pleased with the Tanssi mug. It is the perfect size for a coffee or a tea. The handle is large enough to accommodate a good grip. The design is well glazed and smooth. A delight all the way!
