Q & A
Ilmari Tapiovaara designed this timeless chair in 1946 for the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki, but it's been a staple in homes and publice spaces around the world ever since. It's been lovingly nicknamed "The Finn Chair" for its comfort while sitting for long periods, especially for students studying. Another feature that was designed with this in mind is the Domus Chair's short arms, which allow it to be pulled close to a desk or dining table. The variety of uses and finishes make it a versatile essential for fans of Finnish design. This version is extra comfortable, as both the seat and the back are upholstered in prestige black leather.
Please note: This chair is upholstered on both the seat and back. Additional images that don't show upholstery on both are only to show other angles of frame, stacking capability, and staging ideas.
