Finnish artist Oiva Toikka has always loved color. His affair is strikingly evident in the Rainbow Bird, a 2007 addition to iittala's Birds by Toikka collection. This bird has an appealing lustre body topped with a joyous blue head and red beak. It would be difficult to see the Rainbow Bird without feeling the joy.

Rainbow Bird joins dozens of other collectible glass birds produced by a handful of skilled glassblowers in the small Finnish town called Nuutajärvi. Oiva Toikka has worked with these glassblowers for over 30 years to produce the little gems we call Toikka birds. Each bird is mouth blown and hand formed, without moulds. So no two birds are exactly alike. Each is a little Finnish masterpiece available to collectors worldwide. Signed ‘O Toikka Nuutajärvi'.
