Marimekko Melooni Red/Yellow Fabric RepeatMarimekko’s Melooni fabric was designed by famed textile artist Maija Isola in 1963. The 1960’s was a time of great confidence and productivity for Isola and she began to shift from creating detailed designs to large scale pop art. The Melooni print was a poignant result of this shift. Finnish for “melon”, this print depicts a deconstructed image of this large fruit. Colored in red, yellow and fuchsia, this modern circular design uses vibrant colors to enhance the bold nature of the delicious print.(See secondary image for an approximation of one yard.)
