Marimekko Melooni Red/Yellow Fabric Repeat

Marimekko’s Melooni fabric was designed by famed textile artist Maija Isola in 1963. The 1960’s was a time of great confidence and productivity for Isola and she began to shift from creating detailed designs to large scale pop art. The Melooni print was a poignant result of this shift. Finnish for “melon”, this print depicts a deconstructed image of this large fruit. Colored in red, yellow and fuchsia, this modern circular design uses vibrant colors to enhance the bold nature of the delicious print.
