Q & A
Always inspired by the beauty of nature, Marimekko’s Silkkikuikka Fabric is one of Maija Isola’s more abstract prints. Reminiscent of a tribal drawing, the earthy pattern of Silkkikuikka was inspired by the movements of a particular bird. Finnish for “great crested grebe”, Isola uses cool-hues and repeating wave-like lines to suggest themes of water, plumage and flight. Create calming throw pillows or clothing out of this brilliant, jewel-toned fabric.
