Marimekko Maisema Red Fabric RepeatThe Marimekko Maisema Fabric was designed by Fujiwo Ishimoto in 1982. Ishimoto was praised for his ability to harness a wide spectrum of drawing tools and materials; Ishimoto’s use of crayon to create this multi-layered and blended print gives the Maisema fabric originality. This multi-faceted print spurned an entire patchwork collection named Maisema or “landscape” in Finnish. Created to mimic Finland’s dramatic change in seasons, the subtle colors and patterns result in a versatile fabric pattern that can be used in countless ways.(See secondary image for an approximation of one repeat.)
