Joining Oiva Toikka's growing family of grouses, Cecil boasts a rich red body which blends flawlessly into orange for a stunning, sunset-like palette. Scalloped lines artfully depict the texture of feathers, starting sharply around the breast but gradually become a blur of windswept lines towards the tail; it's as if the bird is in motion. I bought this bird figure as a gift for my daughter, who has a lovely display of colored glass items on an étagère in her living room. The red grouse will join an emerald green Iittala bird that I gave her last year. It is a very beautiful piece.
