iittala glassblowers must enjoy creating the extraordinary 3-inch beak for Eurasian Woodcock, surely this bird's predominant feature. Oiva Toikka accurately depicts the beak which Woodcock uses to forage for food in soft ground. He certainly has the right tool for the job!

The Woodcock's body is transparent with subtle brown and white markings. His transparent head holds that amazing digging tool which is yellow to lustre color. Woodcock depends on it subtle markings to blend in with his woody surroundings as he rests during the day.

Eurasian Woodcock is not the official annual bird but it is a limited edition with production limited to 2007. Each bird carries the artist's name and the name of the glassworks on its base: O Toikka Nuutajärvi. This collectible glass bird is mouth blown and free formed in the iittala glassworks in Nuutajärvi Finland.
