Kalevala Koru is a treasure trove of Finnish jewelry at its finest. Museum pieces date from long ago, but the past 50 years have also seen the creation of many new expressions of Finland’s strong, original culture. In 1947, Kalevala Koru arranged the first competition to establish a modern Finnish jewelry tradition.
Designer Kirsti Ilvessalo is said to have taken her prize-winning motif from the poor boxes of old churches. Her Doll design has become a Kalevala Koru classic.
