The bear was the strongest of the characters. It was told how the bear was the son of Hongatar, how the mother of woodlands had given birth to him "up in the heavens, on the shoulders of the Plough". The bear was treated with great respect and fear, after all it was a half human and half forest being, and also because he who bore the sign of the bear held sway over both people and nature. Made in Finland.

Necklace was well received as a Christmas gift. An additional longer chain was included with the gift since accompanying chain was known to be short.

I gave this bear necklace as a graduation gift to son. He loved it! The only con was that the chain is too short for a male, also it is less strong type ie for boy. So I ended up buying new silver chain to go with the pendant. The jewelry looks gorgeous now!

Excellent craftsmanship, lovely bear pendant infused with culture and mythology, the chain itself is well-wrought, substantial without being thick and has a nice large clasp, additional length/safety chain (not very long tho) and a special feature that keeps the pendant from sliding off the chain so as to never lose it. Very lovely as a gift or present for yourself :)

  • Solid, well-made, beautifully crafted, large clasp, safety/xtra length, pendant secured to chain but not fixed.
Cons
  • Chain length is ridiculously short. I am average height and weight, I couldn?t wear this as a choker if I even wanted to. This is my fault for being so charmed by the bear I neglected to read the specs more carefully. I am usually good about reading but I looked at several of pieces of jewelry at once and somehow missed this.. most of the other minimum chain lengths were the same and it got jumbled in my head. Regardless, I definitely would have ordered it anyway for the pendant and repurposed the chain. ..
  • The chain length is disappointing but the problem is that the bear pendant cannot be simply removed from the chain. Until I can take it to a jeweler, I am wearing it as a bracelet (which is nice because I can see the bear :) but this is definitely something one should know before buying this necklace, which is still worthy of being added to any jewelry collection. Ideal for a child, small teen, or extremely petite and ultra slim adult or as a bracelet for average to large adults.
